I love a good blouse. Funnily enough I do not love ironing but you can not have everything in life. When Patina blouse came out I loved it the minute I saw it. The design is so simple yet so interesting. I love the v-neck opening and the button up front. So far I made one blouse with short sleeves and one with long sleeves. Having both options ready in the pattern makes it so versatile and you can have a blouse for each season.

Pattern Name: Patina Blouse

As you can see this is a long sleeved version made in a lovely flower viscose. The fabric is very soft and easy to iron so it makes it that bit less painful. The construction of the pattern is straightforward and instructions are very clear as they tend to be with Friday Pattern co. I made several of their patterns and loved all of them for both the construction process and final garment. They hold your hand throughout the process. And if you are a visual learner they even have a YouTube sew-along video. Old fashioned me, I prefer to stick with the PDF instructions but it is nice to have options.

I made no fitting adjustments to this blouse other than grading out in the hip area. I cut out the smallest size XS (0) based on my measurements and finished garment measurements and graded to size S (2-4) in hip area on front and back pieces. They did release an updated version after launch, since depending on the selected size the v-neck opening was not hitting the same spot for everyone. It is worth measuring that out or testing it with a mock up fabric before cutting into your treasured one. For me the original version works better and gives me the look I am going for.

The sleeves are simple yet beautiful. They are not too puffy, not to statement like but still have that little element of special. The cuff and placket binding are the hardest part of the shirt to sew, but when you split it into individual small steps one by one you construct a sleeve with no fuss. This is the kind of thing where practice makes it perfect but instructions are great and easy to follow.

The collar is my favorite feature on the blouse. It is very easy to construct but speaks volumes. The V neckline is just the right depth, not too revealing which I like. The button placket gives the extra element of interest. I used simple black buttons since the fabric is already very busy but playing with different buttons is one of my favorite parts in sewing blouses.

Overall I think this is a very cool blouse design and the final garment is comfortable to wear. That is 10/10 in my book for a sewing pattern. Would highly recommend!
